Straddling the western edge of the Ural Mountains where Europe meets Asia, Perm is one of Russia's most culturally ambitious cities — a place where bold contemporary art sits alongside imperial-era architecture and vast riverside panoramas. A wind tunnel facility called AKM Twin-Tunnel Perm has been noted in the city, but for now, Perm itself remains the compelling draw for visitors making their way to this corner of the Urals.

The city punches well above its weight culturally, home to the acclaimed Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre and the extraordinary Perm Museum of Contemporary Art. Beyond the city limits, the Kama River and Perm Krai's vast forested landscapes invite hiking, kayaking, and winter sports, while the UNESCO-listed Perm Animal Style artworks offer a genuinely rare window into ancient Uralic civilisation.
