Tucked into the heart of Jingmen, a mid-sized city in Hubei Province, this largely overlooked corner of central China rewards curious visitors with a quieter, more authentic pace than the country's famous megacities. Industrial in parts yet surrounded by remarkably green countryside, Jingmen carries a grounded, unpretentious character — and it is home to a wind tunnel facility called Flight Town Jingmen.

The wider Hubei region is genuinely rich in things to see and do. The ancient Dahong Mountain scenic area offers forested trails, dramatic cliffs, and peaceful reservoir landscapes ideal for hiking and photography. History enthusiasts will find traces of the Chu Kingdom civilisation woven into the local culture, while the broader province boasts the spectacular Shennongjia wilderness and the Yangtze River corridor — both within manageable reach for adventurous travellers.
