SWISS INDOOR SKYDIVING CHAMPIONSHIP 2016

After big announcement and expectations finally the first Swiss Championships in Indoor Skydiving took place on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th November 2016 at RealFly in Sion. Géraldine Fasnacht, a fervent enthusiast of this new sport, expresses the philosophy of this first edition of the nationals in few words: “Whether you are 5 or 99 years old, Indoor Skydiving is a simple and breathtaking sport that impresses with its complexity served with a disconcerting facility “.

The championships has been organized under the aegis of the Swiss Soccer Association, SwissSkyDive and supported by several private and public partners, these championships confirm Switzerland at the highest international level. In addition this event has delighted and got together the entire swiss paratrooper community.

Vincent Van Laethem, director of RealFly, summarizes the philosophy of this first championship: “Every year we have 35,000 baptisms of freefall at RealFly, for all ages, from 5 yrs old children to 99 years old seniors. But beyond the discovery of human flight for first flyers there is a big community of athletes worldwide. Thanks to this championship we are very proud to have confirmed Switzerland again as a leading country and as an ambassador for innovation in the sport.”

Beside the competitions, demonstration sessions have enchanted the public present during this weekend of championships. It should not be forgotten that Indoor Skydiving is a sport accessible to all ages – a Kids Club from 5 years takes place every week at RealFly Sion. Vincent Van Laethem also speaks proudly about RealFly Academy,  a new project to promote the culture of the sport and to support expert flyers in their progression.
