Indoor skydiving is taking off in popularity, and one of the best in the world is from Western Washington. He is Josh Ruiz Velasco, who grew up in Federal Way an adrenaline junkie. He had been a competitive diver in high school. Then iFly Indoor Skydiving Center in Seattle caught his eye.
“I feel like I have no strings. Me and my body, and I’m soaring through the air.”
He wanted more than a hobby. He wanted to be a world champ. And he is lucky. There are competitions all over the world. He doesn’t fly alone. Andrzej Sołtyk is his teammate. He is from Poland, home to some of the world’s best indoor skydivers. After a full week of practice, the two will head to Montreal for the world championships next week.
